Hello! Thanks for visiting my website. I’m Marcus, a Canadian photographer living in Yellowknife. I’m a single dad, artist, and writer. During the day, I work as a human rights officer. I studied English literature and creative writing at the University of Calgary and Printmaking and Drawing at the Alberta College of Art and Design. I completed a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary studies focused on Canada and the North in 2024.
I am inspired by fellow northern photographers Clare Kines, Fred Lemire, Cathie Archbould and Peter Mather. I love seeing how they see and share the land, culture, people, and wildlife of the arctic region.
My photography is constantly evolving but the subject matter near and dear to my heart has always been wildlife. I recently learned about the International League of Conservation Photographers and their work to document the disappearance of wildlife, habitat, and tell stories of conservation success. It has helped me think more critically about what I want to achieve with my work and has helped me focus on creating projects that document the changes, challenges, and successes I see in Yellowknife and around the Northwest Territories.
