The days are finally getting longer again which means more daylight hours to hang out with the fox family. Spring fever has already started in spite of the cold temperatures. Foxes are marking their favourite spots in the hopes of leaving an in-scent-ive for a new mate.
Some foxes are more interested in the dating game than others. Many are happy to just bask in the returning warmth of the sun snuggled up in their tails out of the wind.
Foxes seem to congregate in this area before dispersing to den and raise their kits. All too soon the family will be busy hunting and guarding their dens. Perhaps this is why there are some foxes that just don’t seem all that interested in the current mating game – they are helpers. I hope I have a chance to observe at least one den this summer to see if this actually proves true.
That’s all for this week. I’m off to check in on these guys a bit later today.
See you back here next Sunday.
