While out and about in town I startled a small group of ravens off their meal. One raven was not about to give up on lunch and stuck around which gave me an opportunity to capture these unique images.
I did a little bit of reading up on ravens and learned that it is not uncommon for them to hunt coastal seabirds and that they will sometimes use cooperative hunting techniques to hunt down game too large for a single bird. It was unclear to me how this gull perished, whether the group had hunted it or whether it had been killed earlier by a vehicle or another animal and the ravens were scavenging the remains. Either way, this bird was not giving up on lunch!
