Welcome back to the Sunday edition. I am getting behind on my photo editing so please forgive the delay in posting. I’ll try to get back on a regular schedule here shortly.
I usually go camping in the last two weeks of June. For the past few years, it has been a pretty good stretch of time to avoid the bugs and the rain but this year was the anomaly! We had quite a bit of rain and cool weather on our trip however there was plenty of bison out and about rain and shine.
Wood bison are the largest land mammal in North America and quite honestly it is difficult to show you just how large and impressive they are. Seeing one in person, especially an old bull walking up to your vehicle is intimidating, to say the least.
Bison calves are adorable and are quite playful when they aren’t on the move or napping. June is also a good month to see the youngsters before their har darkens and their horns come in. They will be ready for the long winters by the time it arrives.
That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoy the images. If you ever drive up this way, come in June so you get a chance to see these little giants and enjoy the endless summer nights.
