Owlet Video

Welcome to the first post of October. It has been just over a year since I started this little project to share my wildlife experiences with a wider audience. I have found it a wonderful way to think about how to share these stories and images and as I move into my second year of this endeavor I wanted to set some new challenges for myself. The biggest of these is to improve my video skills.

I have taken some video and more than once I’ve subjected my Instagram followers to shaky shift-focused video (thank you for your patience with that!) This year I plan to share more video with you which means I’m going to try an improve my skills. Hopefully a year from now my videos will be much better than they are now. Likely my biggest challenge there will be forcing myself to carry a tripod around and actually use it!

This is an example of some of my early video skills using my large camera and lens attempting a hand-held capture of this little owlet. This is one of two chicks that was nesting in a local elementary schoolyard last summer. These birds made quite the impression on many of the local birders and the kids had an opportunity to learn about owls and important skills about respecting wildlife. I captured a number of photos as well as some video footage. I hope you enjoy!

As always have a great week and we’ll see you here again next Sunday.

PS Anyone with tips on how to improve video skills, please message me!
